what is lag?

“Virtua Fighter is more than a game — it’s a language we share. LAG is our space to speak it together.”

LAG (Los Angeles Gathering) is a grassroots Virtua Fighter offline event born out of passion, community, and cross-cultural connection. Inspired by the legendary Homestay Akira’s performance at EVO 2018, the first LAG was held in January 2019—and became a memorable event for those that attended.

Today, LAG 2025 returns with the same spirit: to bring together players from across the world in Manhattan Beach, CA, for a weekend of high-level competition, collaboration, and camaraderie. Featuring special guests from Japan, including VF icons Homestay Akira, Tetsuko Yamada, and ChinpanJ, this event is more than a tournament—it’s a chance to learn from the best, bridge East and West, and grow stronger as a community.

why we gather.

  • Community
LAG is built by and for players. Whether you’re a tournament veteran or a new fan, this event is your home.

  • Learning
Our Japanese guests set the global standard in Virtua Fighter. LAG gives you access to their insight, tech, and mindset.

  • Connection
Online play has its place, but nothing beats the quality of offline matches—no lag, no input delay, and real-time reactions. At LAG, you get to compete face-to-face, talk tech, and build real connections with the people you’re playing. And it isn’t just about the matches—it’s the beach hangouts, dinners, and conversations that make it unforgettable.
